Abstract:
In this study, the dynamic
behavior of a hemispherical composite shell manufactured from fiberglass and
epoxy under air blast load has been analysed experimentally and numerically. A
blast load test structure and a hemispherical composite shell has been designed
and built. Static tests has been conducted for material calibration and air
blast load tests have been done under different pressure and distances. The
equations for composite and shell structures were derived. The theoretical part
of the study also contains the finite element analysis of the composite shell
structure via ANSYS. The frequency response of the shell, computed by the
finite element method, for the air blast load shows good agreement
qualitatively with experimental results.
