He completed his BSc in Physics at Middle East Technical University (METU) with TÜBİTAK BAYG (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye) scholarship, and his Master's in Istanbul Technical University (ITU). He received his PhD in 2003 from the University of Greifswald, Germany, where Plasma Physics was discovered. He received his Associate Professorship in Atomic and Molecular Physics in 2015. He was at the Max-Planck Institute Wendelstein7-X (W7-X) fusion energy research complex as an invited visiting researcher in 2004. He has taken the Academy-Industry Cooperation project within the scope of European Union Horizon2020 and successfully completed it in 2016.
He has been working at ITU Physics Engineering Department since October 1992. He also worked as a Research Assistant at Greifswald University between 2000-2002.
He works and has published works in the fields of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Fusion Energy and Computational Physics.
