Özet

Environmental pollution is increasing due to the increasing number of internal combustion engines. Depending on this situation, there has been a trend towards alternative energy vehicle technologies. Serial hybrid electric vehicles are also one of these alternative energy vehicles. The decision of the control method to increase efficiency in hybrid electric vehicles have great importance. Algorithm of the energy management system has been developed for a series hybrid electric garbage truck. The developed algorithm consists of two parts working as online and offline. The offline algorithm uses the vehicle's previous average consumption data to operate the vehicle in electric mode within residential areas. The online algorithm provides instant control of all subsystems of the vehicle, such as the traction system and generator set system. In the online control algorithm, control mode selection and generator set speed selection functions are made by fuzzy logic controller, considering the non-linear characteristic of the system. The developed controller was tested in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and was able to complete the garbage collection areas in electric mode. By using developed EMS algorithm 27.3% fuel saving is achieved compared to the conventional vehicle.
