Özet

The storm that occurred in Istanbul on July 27, 2017 caused many disasters. Storms have caused many natural disasters such as air transportation, agriculture, floods, etc. It was chosen as one of the most damaging storms in Istanbul in the last 5 years. Meteogram and skew-T were used for storm analysis using High-level Maps, satellite and radar images. When the surface charts were examined, it was seen that the hot and cold fronts that occurred in Central and Eastern Europe came to Istanbul on the day of the incident and it was seen that the wind density increased significantly from the 850 hPa graphics. 700 hPa graph, a short wave that caused hot air advection in the northwest of Türkiye has occurred, it is understood from the 500 hPa graph that there is a positive vortex in Istanbul. Radar and satellite images confirmed heavy clouds and heavy precipitation over Istanbul. Also, when Skew-t is examined, it is seen that the difference between LCL and CCL levels is large and this indicates a storm. In addition, the Lifted Index, Showalter Index, SWEAT Index and CAPE values are -5.61, -5.39, 336.1 and 972.1 J/kg, respectively. The accuracy of the results was tested by comparison with the Aviation Routine Weather Report (Metar) and the Aviation Selected Special Weather Report (Speci). According to Metar reports, it was observed that the visibility decreased to 900 meters at the time of the incident. It was reported that the precipitation type and intensity turned to Thunderstorm with heavy rain (+TSRA), especially at 15:00 UTC, and the wind gust reached 45 kt.
