Özet

This paper presents the performance enhancement Tor a recently proposed self-routing packet network called the Plane Interconnected Parallel Network (PIPN) which exploits the properties of banyan networks for use in fast packet switches while improving the performance by alleviating the drawbacks of banyan networks especially under heterogeneous traffic requirements. The performance of the PIPN is enhanced by rising, first. deflection with tandem networks and then by internal buffering. The performance of the enhanced PIPN's and rile enhanced banyan networks are examined by simulation and compared under heterogeneous traffic requirements since the motivation in the introduction of the PIPN was the drastic performance degradation of banyan networks as the incoming traffic becomes heterogeneous. It is shown that the PIPN using some performance enhancing techniques is superior to the other ban!an network based interconnection structures employing the same performance enhancing techniques.
