One of the most important meteorological
phenomena seen in the accident-incident scenes in the aviation sector that
resulted in material and moral losses is the fog event which causes the
visibility to fall. For this reason, the prediction of the fog event and the
development of the early warning system in this direction is of great
importance especially for airports. Many different index methods are used in
the world literature in estimating the fog process. In this study, the FOGSI
(Fog Stability Index) was performed for the Sabiha Gökçen International Airport
with the atmospheric data provided by the Turkish State Meteorological Service.
