Certain momentum parameters for the axial momentum equations are defined so as to investigate the hydrodynamic behaviour of two interconnected parallel channels when one of them has a high blockage fraction, their values are then obtained from experimental results. The transverse resistance between two channels is studied by taking into account the convective contribution of transverse momentum due to axial and transverse velocities. Transverse resistance coefficients are calculated assuming different axial velocities in the gap region. The variations of the momentum parameters and transverse resistance coefficients are given in the regions upstream and downstream of the blockage as a function of the square of the ratio of cross-flow velocity to donor channel velocity.
