Abstract

In this study, a new calculation method has been developed to predict scoring on cylindrical spur and helical gearsets based on the mean tooth profile temperature. Scoring on gears is also experimentally examined and the quantitative and qualitative results of the experiments an given. The method is checked by means of experiments and by using the data of these experiments a correction factor (safety factor) for the method is determined. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
