Özet

An analytical approach is applied in order to optimize the geometric parameters of conical coat-hanger dies in the current study. Then, a conical coat-hanger die performance of which is independent from extrusion process material and process conditions (flow rate and temperature) based on flow balance at the die exit was designed by use of this analytical method. The performance of designed conical coat-hanger die was evaluated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses. Various values of the power law indices were used in viscosity model in order to test the die performance in terms of process material 'theology. The CFD analyses validated the efficiency of the analytical method. The velocity distributions are satisfactorily uniform at the exit of the designed coat-hanger die for materials of different power-law indices.
