Correlation between silicon dioxide and aluminium oxide contents of bauxite samples

The structure of bauxite deposits of Seydisehir (Turkey) were investigated by simple but effective statistical analysis. The results obtained under variable aluminium oxide contents were used to generate an empirical relationship by plotting, at different scales, (A(1)/A(2)) versus (S-1/S-2), where A(1) is the percent aluminium oxide, A(2) is the mean percent aluminium oxide, S-1 is the percent silicon dioxide and S-2 is the mean percent silicon dioxide. As a result of these trials, it was found that the use of logarithmic coordinates gave a straight line with the empirical equation for the system in question being: A(1) = 1.010 . A(2) . S-1(0.016). S-2(-0.016).
