Özet

One of the new trends in coal processing to remove the inorganics from coal is to use of more simple and economic separation devices such as three products dense medium cyclone (TPDMC). TPDMC consists of combined Larcodem and dense medium cyclone allowing to the two-stage separation at different separation densities. Application of only one medium density for the first separation unit “Larcodem” and the development of new cut density at the second stage dense medium cyclone makes the separation unit simpler by elimination second unit medium density preparation and drain and additional rinse screens. So far, it is known that there are several applications of this separation unit in Zonguldak, Thracian and Balıkesir regions in Turkey. And no scientific report about the separation performance of these applications with TPDMC.

Having a problem of determination of product masses, it is not easy to determine the separation performance and limited information about the separation performance of TPDMC is widely open to be investigated. In this study, the separation performance of TPDMC that has been being operated in Zonguldak was performed in detail including size by size performance test.
