Özet

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) ensures that all business processes in an organization are managed via an integrated database system. During the implementation of an ERP system, many complex and difficult-to-implement changes are required on the company's business processes as well as the ERP system itself Barriers encountered during the ERP implementation have a negative effect on the success of the implementation process. Thus, understanding these barriers is a key to eliminate the causes behind them. In this study, the barriers encountered in small and medium-sized enterprises in Turkey during ERP implementation are determined and the relationships between them are analyzed in order to contribute to our understanding of the barriers, which will lead to an easier and smooth ERP implementation process. Thus, at the end of the study, suggestions for easier and troublefree management of ERP installation process are presented. For this purpose, the literature was reviewed to identify the main the barriers, which were then evaluated and updated by experts from academy and practice. In order to define the relationships between the identified barriers, questionnaires were formed and expert opinions were gathered. The collected data was analyzed by using Interpreter Structural Modeling and MICMAC (Cross Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification) methods. The validity and reliability of the model was investigated by the case of a medium-sized company which is in the process of ERP implementation. This study makes a clear contribution to both the literature and the sector authorities by providing a better understanding of the obstacles to the ERP process and avoiding the disruptions.
