Abstract

This study describes the behaviour of full-scale specimens of the tested series on steel bolted connections that were designated as weak axis beam-to-column connections. In the specimens, the beams were composed of double channels and columns were HE profiles as cross-sections. All the samples had the same cross-sections for beams and columns, but three of beams stiffened by the web plates. Six specimens have been tested at the Structural Laboratory of Istanbul Technical University. All the samples satisfy the current provisions and limitations of the Eurocode 3 (EC3) with regard to size of bolts. The aim of this experimental study is to investigate the actual behaviour of moment and shear connections in steel structures and to search the influence of the web stiffeners on the behaviour.
