Abstract

Turkish ceramic industry, as the representative of a great heritage, started to improve in early 1980s and as a sub-sector ceramic tiles production grew accordingly creating a wide range of designs. As the design trend turned its face to products of local heritage, it also effected Turkish ceramic tiles. Therefore Turkish tile producers started using more historicism in their designs in different methods, in search of more competitive products. The use of design heritage and historicism are evaluated through some design examples in the article.
