Abstract

In this study a heuristic assembly line balancing technique known as "Probabilistic Line Balancing Technique" developed by El-Sayed and Boucher is applied to solve multi-model assembly line balancing problem in a clothing company for two different models. Information about definitions and solution methods related to the assembly line balancing problems is given and a literature research is introduced. The aim of the case study is to reach maximum line efficiency by using optimum machine and worker amount for a constant cycle time. When results investigated, it is seen that probabilistic method gives the opportunity to assign items to work stations more accurately and it gives reliable results.
