Özet

In this study we made some leaching tests on Yenikoy Agacli coal of Istanbul for possible toxic heavy metals and organic compounds. Also five different water samples near and around the coal field were collected for analysis. For the coal samples, soaking and leaching tests were applied and resultant solutions and collected water samples from the field were analysed using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer and GCMS. Results of the experiments showed that Mn, Cr, Cd, Fe and Pb concentration were much higher than the drinking water satandars and qualitatively some pyrene deriatives and other noxtious compounds were dedected in the leachates and water samples.
