The global thermodynamic properties of both classical and quantum gases confined in nano scale domains have been widely considered in the literature. It was shown that, global thermodynamic properties of gases confined in nano-sized domains are strongly affected by size and form of the domain. These effects are called as quantum size effects (QSE). Both to understand the physical mechanism of shape and size dependence of global thermodynamic properties in detail and to use the models based on the local equilibrium assumption, which are often used in non-equilibrium thermodynamics, it is important to examine also the local thermodynamic properties of gases.
