The production of acetone and alcohols (butanol and ethanol) from corn flower mash and beet molasses by three batch cultures of Clostridium acetobutylicum P262 were studied. C. acetobutylicum cleaved completely sucrose of corn mash and molasses and produced significant amounts of ethanol, butanol, and acetone. Yields of each product depended on the time of fermentation and pH.
