Özet

The assembly of pirrsonite and gaylussite, a rarely formed mineral couple, has been investigated by means of mineralogical, geochemical and physicochemical studies. Euhedral pirrsonite and subhedral gaylussite crystals were found to exist sporadically within claystone-mudstone units in the Beypazari neogene basin, in the province of Ankara. Based on the data obtained in this work, it is postulated that these minerals were formed under conditions of low temperature and high Ca/Na ratio during the first sedimentation stages of the trona deposits in the basin.
