Automatic generation control (AGC) is the process of keeping the increases or decreases frequency at its nominal value and the tie-line transfer power within the determined values due to the changes in consumer demands in the system. In this study, AGC is performed in a two-area power system using fuzzy logic method. In this context, firstly, the two-area power system was modeled in MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Then, it is intended to be zero the frequency and the tie-line power change by using the classical PID controller and fuzzy PI controller whose gain parameters are determined by fuzzy logic method, as the controller. Changes in the frequency and tie-line power of the system against load changes applied to the system were obtained for both controllers. From the results obtained, it can be seen that the fuzzy logic controller has better performance in AGC than classical PID controller in terms of the overshoot value of the system and the tie-line power change.
