Stüdyo kitabı mimari tasarım, kuram ve eğitimde oldukça önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. Trans•Studio da bu tür bir içeriğe sahip bir stüdyo kitabıdır. 2013-2015 yılları arasında ardışık üç yarıyıl boyunca İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık Bölümü, Mimari Proje 7 dersinde1 gerçekleştirmiş Trans• temalı çalışmalar üzerinden stüdyonun vizyonu ve projelerini paylaşmayı amaçlar. Projelerin yanı sıra, stüdyodan yükselen tartışmaları genişletmek üzere, stüdyo dışından konuyla ilgili görüşlere yer verir. Bu yönde, stüdyonun teması ve yaklaşımını açıklayan “From Border-Lines to Trans•Positions / Sınır-boylarından Trans•Pozisyonlara” başlıklı giriş bölümü dışında kitapta iki bölüm vardır: ‘Creativity & Newness / Yaratıcılık & Yenilik’ ve ‘Projections / Projeksiyonlar’. Yaratıcılık & Yenilik başlıklı ilk bölümde stüdyo içi ve dışı davetli yazılar yer alırken; Projeksiyonlar başlıklı ikinci bölümde, manifesto ve çizimleriyle üç ardışık dönemde çalışılmış üç Trans• temasına ait öğrenci projeleri yer alır. Üç Trans• teması ise şöyledir: Transition•Transection•Transportation / Geçiş•Kesit•Nakil; Trans•House / Dönüşen•Konut ve Trans•Pose/ Yer•Değiştirme. Ayrıca kitabın sonunda, öğrencilerin stüdyo hakkındaki anı ve yorumlarının yer aldığı bir ‘Epilog’ vardır. Kısaca, Trans•Studio, önde gelen tasarım stüdyoları ve mimarlık okulları tarafından yayınlanan stüdyo kitaplarının bir örneğidir. Kitap kendini, ‘Trans•’ teması etrafında hareket eden bir dizi ‘proje’ ve ‘yaratıcılık ve yenilik’ fikrinde yoğunlaşan bir seri makale ile ortaya koyar.
Abstract A studio book has an important impact on architectural design, theory, and educational discourse. Trans•Studio, too, is a studio book having such content. It aims to share the visions and works of the studio, which was held at the Istanbul Technical University, Department of Architecture, Architectural Design Studio 7 in three consecutive semesters in between 2013-2015.1 In addition to the projects as design experimentations on the themes of the studio, the book includes some views from outside the studio in order to expand the discourse. In this direction, there are two chapters in the book, apart from the ‘Introduction’ part called “From Border-lines to Trans•Positions” explaining the studio’s attitude and theme: Creativity & Newness and Projections. The first chapter includes some invited articles on the idea of ‘creativity and newness’ as indicated in the title. The second chapter, the Projections contains student projects of three Trans• themes, which have been studied in three consecutive semesters, as mentioned above, with their manifestos and drawings. The three Trans• themes are Transition•Transection•Transportation, Trans•House, and Trans•Pose There is also an ‘Epilogue’ at the end of the book with the memories and comments of the students about the studio. In short, Trans•Studio is one of the examples of studio books published by the leading design studious architecture schools. The book manifests itself through a series of projects risen from the studio moving around the theme of Trans•, and a series of articles focusing on the idea of ‘creativity and newness.’
