Özet

In this paper, the properties of Barite occurrences observed around Istanbul, in Sile village, were studied and the conditions of formation were investigated. These occurrences were observed within Lower Triassic sandstones indicating to a sedimentary deposit. In this occurrence it was determined a paragenesis of Calcite, Quartz, Barite and Limonite and the contents of Pb, Cu, Cd, Sb, Ni were generally low. As a result of the studies it was suggested that the occurrences have been formed in fractures and also openings because of remobilizations of elements present in the rocks and pore solutions and also because of the effect of groundwater.
