There are many meteorological events that cause various disruptions and accidents in the airway transportation. Lightning events are the main extreme weather events observed in this context. In this study, observations for aviation purposes hava been carried out over many airports which are located in Marmara Region borders (4 international, 7 national-millitary) for many years. In the analyzes conducted between 2001-2016 (15 years), daily-hourly oscillations of lightning events were investigated, followed by daily, monthly and yearly distributions. It also revealed how other meteorological variables followed the “Thunder” phenomenon that brought lightning. In this direction, it is reached either it ocur by itself or by any kind of precipitation. According to the results of the first collective analysis, a rapid decrease was observed after sunset, while an increase in the events was observed shortly after sunrise. The highest number of occurences was observed between 10°C and 18°C. In parallel to these temperature ranges, lightnings have reached the highest number in the spring and autumn seasons, usually in early summer.
