Abstract

The largest feldspar reserves of Turkey are located in the Cine-Milas Province. The main impurities of these ores are described as titanium and iron oxide minerals such as anatase, rutile, ilmenite, spheric, magnetite, hematite and limonite. In Cine-Milas deposits, a considerable amount of feldspars are not evaluated and disposed due to the high content of TiO2 and Fe2O3, In this study, some pilot scale tests were carried out to reduce contents of these impurities, which cause the negative effects onto feldspar. Therefore, pilot scale magnetic and gravity separations and various flotation methods were applied to remove impurities from these tailings in order to produce high quality feldspar concentrate suitable for ceramic industry. Among these methods, jet flotation method was found as the most convenient one for the industrial application.
