Özet

In recent years, Istanbul with a population of close 12 million people has been troubled by severe air pollution problems. Based on meso-scale weather conditions and regional climatological factors, SO2 and TSP episodes observed in Istanbul during the 1991-1994 were analyzed. The worst air pollution episodes are associated with the pressure gradient weaker than 5 mb per 1000 km.
