Abstract

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has become an effective tool in various application areas from urban applications to disaster management activities. Geo-data sets coming from different sources are required for all these application areas. However, users meet with data sharing problems. As a general concept, geo-data should be usable in every system, in other words "interoperable". Therefore, numerous countries have already developed and some of them are developing their own geo-data standards like Turkey National GIS, based on ISO/TC211 and OGC standards. To make the data usable in different application areas, data transformation is required with Spatial ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tools. In this way, data sets in any application or database should be extracted, transformed, and loaded in another application and database.
