In this study, it is intended to compare Turkish Specifications with Eurocode 8 with respect to their rules concerning steel structures by designing a simple structure for earthquake resistance. General concepts and design principles mentioned in Eurocode 8 and in Turkish Specifications are described. After stating earthquake loading, modelling & analysis, ductility consideration and design concepts are briefly explained. Both codes are applied to the comparative design of a simple steel building and finally the differences between the computational results are presented.
