Street lighting is important in terms of city security
and the quality of life of city dwellers.
However, the cost of energy for urban enlightenment is high both in
terms of environmental damage and public budget. Various efforts have been made
to reduce this cost and to improve the efficiency of maintenance services of
street lamps. One of them is adaptive lighting management and self-regulating
lighting according to environmental conditions. Remote lighting monitoring and
control, as well as lighting rate programming according to traffic intensity
with artificial intelligence methods are also techniques to manage street
lighting intelligently. In this article, these works will be reviewed and the
smart street lighting concept will be studied
