Özet

Since the adjacent structures can collide due to their out-of-phase vibration, structural pounding is an additional problem except for the other harmful damage that occurs during the earthquake vibrations. In this study, a simple active control algorithm which results in an asymptotically stable system is proposed for adjacent structures. To be able to prevent a possible pounding, proposed control is calculated based on the measured relative displacement of the structures. The structural responses of the example structure subjected to El Centro ground motion are investigated for optimal passive control and proposed control and compared to uncontrolled case. It is shown by numerical results that the proposed active control algorithm can reduce the response of the adjacent structures under the earthquake forces and prevent pounding.
