© 2021 IEEE.With the rising penetration level of electric vehicles (EVs), parking lots (PLs) with appropriate charging/discharging facilities can serve as effective distributed storage units. The storage capacity of the EV PLs and their impacts on the grid operation have been studied using several stochastic and deterministic parameters. However, modeling of driver willingness to participate in the grid operation has not been considered so far due to the lack of statistical data about the EV owners. Therefore, this study is devoted to modeling the driver willingness and determination driver willingness impacts on the storage capacity of the EV PLs. A probabilistic model derived from the real car parking data is proposed for the willingness representation. Then the effects of drivers' willingness on the storage capacity of a PL are computed by changing the parameters of the proposed model. The proposed modeling and available storage capacity evaluation are applied to a representative PL in Istanbul, and the results are discussed.
