Abstract

This paper arose from the potentials of the coastline ecosystems. It firstly defines the importance of the coastlines which have effects both on land and sea ecosystems. Then, it tells the potency of the people on ecology within their recreational needs. After comparing the big cities in Europe, USA with Istanbul about the recreational areas per person, it is seen that coastal zones are precious areas for recreation. On the Black Sea costal zone, Cilingoz which is 110 km far from Istanbul is chosen as a case study. Cilingoz is one of the natural preservation sites with its morphology, flora and fauna. The paper examines its potentials and possible cultural threats to its nature and seeks to set a planning program based on protection and usage priorities.
