Abstract

This note is concerned with a slightly damped uniform n-mass oscillator where two cases are considered regarding the damping: only one mass is damped, all masses are damped simultaneously. For both cases, approximate analytical expressions are established for the eigenvalues which yield quite accurate approximations to the exact eigenvalues. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
