Abstract

This paper focuses on the expected performance of classification and manual digitising methods for obtaining coastline by using two available satellite data, Spot XS (1993) itself and Spot P (1993) and Spot XS (1993) merged image. For this purpose, Kucuk Cekmece Lake which is one of the most important water basin area around Istanbul, Turkey, was selected as the study area. Principal components analysis (PCA) for Spot XS data, intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) transformation for merging Spot XS and Spot P registrated images and classification process was performed for digital image analysis.
