Abstract

Metallophthalocyanines 4-7 [M=Cu(ll), Ni(ll), Zn(ll) or Co(ll)] carrying eight decyltosylaminomethyl groups in peripheral positions have been synthesized from 1,2-dibromo-(3a) or 1,2-dicyano-4,5-bis(decyltosylaminomethyl)benzene (3b) in the presence of the corresponding anhydrous metal salt, These soluble phthalocyanines have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR, UV-visible, and mass spectra, the spectral data indicates the presence of essentially unaggregated species.
