Abstract

Today, a simple and reliable hand evaluation test method and instrument are not available. This reality caused researches on the topic of friction based studies. In this study frictional properties of woven woolen fabrics are investigated by using a new friction measurement set-up for fabrics. Appropriate probe material, diameter, and velocity of the probe are chosen for the measurement. All tests are applied in both weft and warp directions. Considering all the other fabric parameters are constant, increased weft density caused coefficient of friction to increase. Different patterns showed different frictional properties.
