Philip Forchheimer visited Turkey twice, first as a professor at Civilian Engineers' School at the end of the XIX, century, and then as a professor and Director of Studies during the First World War. Very little is known about the first period. Later he was influential in reorganizing the curriculum and improving the quality of engineering education. He published five books and one article in the field of hydraulics when he was in Istanbul.
