Abstract

Interannual variability of Turkish stream-flow and precipitation patterns were analyzed in the frequency domain to justify the signals of the warm phase of the Southern Oscillation (El Nino) that were previously detected using a different approach For this purpose, spectral analysis was carried out to record these two climatic parameters from 1964 to 1993. Some statistically significant periodicities in the 2-6 years band, which are assumed to be associated with the El Nino occurrences, were found in the regional modular series of both parameters in Turkey.
