Özet

The purpose of the study is to show the relationship between the two types of observations that are observation based on human observations published by airports and instrumental observations. Detailed analyzes were carried out for 11 airports within the boundaries of the Marmara Region within 7 years period. In the analyzes made, METAR (Aeronautical Routine Weather Report) and SPECI (Aeronautical Selected Air Weather Report) were used as observations based on human observation, whereas "lightning strike" data obtained from MetOffice was used as instrumental observations. In both analyzes, the airports were regarded as the center, and each of them was subject to analysis. On the hourly analysis, lightning strike data were taken as 12.5 km and 25 km radius, taking the airports as center. According to the results, instrumental observations performed better for almost all airports, but a higher correlation was found especially between the data obtained at 25 km Radius and the data broadcast by airports.
