Abstract

Ore deposits and the occurrences of ore minerals in a large area in the Alanya Massif situated in the southern part of the Middle Taurus (Turkey) were investigated. The study area is essentially made up of regionally metamorphosed Paleozoic rock series with only minor portions of non-metamorphosed series. The metamorphic rocks are 'mainly mica- and quartz-chlorite-schists with lenticular intercalations of calcitic and dolomitic marble, with thin layers of quartzite occurring occasionally. The schists were derived from detritic material consisting mainly of clay and sandy components, which often show mixed layering.
