Abstract

The monoenergetic transport equation for slab geometry with a specified isotropic scattering model is considered. First, the transport equation is converted into one in which the scattering kernel is completely isotropic. Then, the calculations for the albedo and transmission factor were performed by the F-N method and numerical results are tabulated for slab with various scattering parameters and sizes. Thus, the effect of the specified isotropic scattering on the variation of the slab albedo and transmission factor is shown. Finally, we make a few remarks about the numerical applicability and the accuracy of the present method to this type of anisotropic scattering model. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
