The phosphorescence intensity of naphthalene groups labelled to the poly(methyl methacrylate) phase of a colloid particle is studied in dependence of temperature. The peculiar structure in the phosphorescence spectra around -126-degrees-C is attributed to the theta point conditions of the colloid dispersion. The results are interpreted in terms of the excluded volume effect.
