Özet

It is known that the inversions play an important role on the level of air pollution concentrations in the lower atmosphere. On the other hand, surface inversion and elevated inversion have different effects on the meteorological and air pollution parameters. For example, for the case of surface inversion the relation between temperature changes and the pollutants are inverse where as for the case of elevated inversion pollutant concentrations are directly proportional to temperature. To study this effect during the days of elevated and surface inversion occurrences the relation between the meteorological and pollutant parameters are established. In addition, inversion thickness, day light and nocturnal inversions are considered for five different locations in Istanbul together with the meteorological data obtained at Goztepe station.
