COSMO/CLM/ICON/ART User Seminar, Offenbach, Almanya, 6 - 08 Mart 2017, ss.17
The goal of the study is to evaluate the performance of non-hydrostatic regional climate
model COSMO-CLM (CCLM) in capturing 2-m temperature and precipitation over Istanbul,
Turkey. Associated processes are examined in the framework of ERAfrica, which is supported
by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) with a project
number 114Y047, by conducting a set of nesting simulations. NCAR/NCEP Reanalysis data
is dynamically downscaled to first coarse resolution (0.44◦
) over mother domain, which covers
Turkey and its vicinity. Then, the results are downscaled to 0.11◦ over the western part of Turkey
and finally to 0.0275◦ over Istanbul. The simulations cover the periods of 1971-2005.
The validation of CCLM is performed with respect to various observational data sets. These
datasets are provided by Climatic Research Unit (CRU), European Climate Assessment &
Dataset and the Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS). The detailed evaluation and
analysis results will be presented and discussed in annual and seasonal basis.
