The performance of variable angle tow laminated composite plates under the effect of the critical buckling load is examined by using the differential evolution algorithm. The behaviors of optimal variable angle fiber composite plates and constant angle fiber composite plates under uniaxial loading were compared. An antisymmetric linear angle change depending on a single axis is used for continuous angle orientation distribution, and a radius of tow curvature constraint has been introduced to maintain manufacturability using the automated fiber placement. The increment rate of critical buckling load is investigated, and the results were validated by comparing the buckling and ply failure results obtained as the number of layers and aspect ratio changes.
