Hydroxyapatite is a bioceramic owing biocompatibility, bioactivity, osteoconductivity, nontoxicity and noninflammatory. With its unique properties, it is found applications in repairing of bone and as coatings for metallic prostheses. Bone consists of hydroxyapatite crystals as the major component of the mineral phase and collagen as the major component of the organic phase. By the inspiration of bone structure, hydroxyapatite-polymer composites have been drawing attention for years. In this work, hydroxyapatite was participated with gelatin which is similar to collagen. Spray dryer is used as drying medium to investigate the effect of different weight gelatin ratios on powder. Moreover, in-vitro studies were conducted to investigate their bioactivity on a selected sample. The results showed that these materials may be suitable for bio-applications.
