Some white or yellow spots of crystals may appear on the surface of concretes manufactured with portland cement and naphthalene or melamine sulfonate formaldehyde condensate based superplasticizers. In this study, the chemical compositions of these crystals, necessary conditions for their formation and their effects on concrete strength and durability were investigated.
