Abstract

In this paper, the correlation between transmission line outages and power transmission network losses ill the cord responding network configurations have been probed ill the context of electric power-transmission system security assessment process. The effects of transmission line outages and active losses on power systems have been investigated, and contingency ranking of the line outages in order of importance has been performed. Masking effects on system performance index are also included. Test studies have been carried out using linearized power flow model oil the IEEE 24-Bus Reliability Test System to examine the relations between transmission line outages and total active losses, and detailed results are presented.
