Özet

Cross-pieces are used to retaining the hooks and to support the hoisting sheaves in hoisting blocks of cranes. The shape of cross-pieces are varied with respect to the crain hoisting capacity. The optimisation of crosspieces with appropriate selection of shape and material enables the increase of value of loading capacity. In this study, the application of distributed uniform load on semi-circular pattern of cross-pieces, which are used as a materials handling equipment, is presented. Both finite element method and exact method as an application of resultant of distributed uniform load on semi-circular pattern on cross-pieces are investigated. An illustrative example is given to compare the stress results obtained by finite element and exact methods.
