In this paper, the emphasis was given on coal as being the most important energy raw material in Turkey. The additional electricity can be produced by improving the low capacity utilization rate of thermal power plants. An evaluation has been made for the purpose of classification of coal fields on economic feasibility basis with respect to the power plant development by considering the possible operational costs for electricity generation [1].
