Cadmium and copper in salt deposits were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. In the given concentration range of elements it was impossible to perform an analysis by introducing the diluted samples into the flame or into the graphite furnace used in this study because of the interferencing effects of sodium chloride. The analyte elements were therefore preconcentrated and separated prior to the analysis by using extraction as well as adsorption on modified silica gel.
